Ohio Turnpike Commission Renews Diamond Agreement

May 12, 2021 by

Last week, the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission (OTIC) and Diamond Communications announced a five-year extension to their tower management agreement for locations along the Ohio Turnpike. Both parties have worked together since 2015, with Diamond taking point on tower brokerage and property management services along the 241-mile toll road.

Diamond Communications said it will continue to market the Commission’s communication towers, buildings, light poles, and other structures for 5G carrier equipment through 2025. In addition, the company announced it will work to expand and extend existing telecom agreements and solicit new contracts related to fiber optic installations on Commission-owned land and rights-of-way.

OTIC Executive Director Ferzan M. Ahmed, P.E., said of the relationship with Diamond, “Their team has consistently delivered results, including the collaborative development of pre-negotiated license and lease agreements, completion of new colocation agreements, and successful negotiation of numerous amendments or extensions to existing agreements. We will continue to look to their team for their expertise related to wireless, 5G, fiber optic cable, and other emergent communication technology.”

Another project to come out of the partnership is a 185-foot self-support tower on Commission land, located at the Vermillion Valley Service Plaza (00Mile Post 139.5 in Amherst, OH).
