School Seeks Cell Tower Solution

November 4, 2021 by

In Ohio, the Streetsboro School District announced plans to construct a new high school. Available land further away from the town center was chosen as the new location. Early in the process, school Superintendent R. Michael Daulbaugh consulted with city officials to brainstorm about providing funding for the project. During a visit to the site, Streetsboro Mayor, Glenn Broska, noticed the poor cell service and suggested contacting TowerCo.

Wireless infrastructure company TowerCo announced it agreed to a meeting and identified the football stadium as an ideal location for a new cell tower. Using a light pole at the new sports facility will provide both connectivity and revenue for the high school. Incorporating tower plans from the get go is also a cost saver, and allows TowerCo to assume some of the building costs.

“The Streetsboro school district has a chance to cash in on a ‘zero-risk’ method that could potentially provide about $200,000 or more over a ten-year period,” noted Daulbaugh.

Not only will TowerCo help build the stadium cell tower, according to a public statement, it will also continue to alleviate costs for the school by paying a monthly ground lease. School officials have cheered TowerCo’s plans, which will direct extra monies to the school without placing an additional burden on taxpayers.
