September 21, 2021 by

ARLINGTON, Va. – Secretary of Labor Martin J. Walsh announced today the appointment of WIA President and CEO Jonathan Adelstein to the U.S. Department of Labor’s recently reinstated National Advisory Committee on Apprenticeship. The committee will provide advice and recommendations to the Secretary of Labor on ways to better utilize the apprenticeship training model to provide equitable career pathways that advance the dignity of work for everyone, particularly in fast-growing industries and sectors.

“I am honored to be appointed to the Department of Labor’s Advisory Committee on Apprenticeship. As the National Sponsor of the Department of Labor-registered Telecommunications Industry Registered Apprenticeship Program (TIRAP), WIA is the leader in developing telecommunications apprenticeships and workforce training crucial to the expansion of telecommunications infrastructure and the advancement of 5G technology,” said Adelstein. “With TIRAP now expanded to sixty employers and twelve officially recognized apprenticeships, I will leverage our experience in workforce development in the high-growth telecommunications industry to support the Advisory Committee’s mission. Thank you, Secretary Walsh, for recognizing the value of telecommunications apprenticeship.”
