WIA Thanks President Biden for Focus on Broadband

March 31, 2021 by

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Wireless Infrastructure Association (WIA) thanks President Biden for his focus on broadband in The American Jobs Plan.

“WIA and the wireless industry is pleased that President Biden is committed to bringing ubiquitous broadband to the U.S. As the plan is considered by Congress, broadband funding should be truly technology-neutral so it gets the most bandwidth to consumers using the most cost-efficient means, which certainly includes 5G. WIA also appreciates President Biden proposing a $48 billion investment focused on registered apprenticeship, an effective, earn-while-you-learn career training pathway. WIA pioneered registered apprenticeship in the wireless industry through the Telecommunications Industry Registered Apprenticeship Program (TIRAP),” said WIA President and CEO Jonathan Adelstein. “WIA further appreciates the Administration’s commitment to supporting partnerships with community colleges and employers and to bolstering opportunity for disadvantaged and underrepresented populations to enter infrastructure jobs like those that TIRAP addresses.”

WIA is the national sponsor of TIRAP.

“WIA looks forward to continuing to work with the Administration and Congress on bringing wireless broadband to communities everywhere and to train the workforce of tomorrow to get it built efficiently,” said Adelstein.
